In areas where full protection isn’t feasible, buffered bike lanes with additional space between cyclists and traffic are used to enhance safety and comfort. Boston operates a popular bike-sharing program called bluebikes. It provides residents and visitors with an affordable and convenient way to access bikes for short trips.
